# Review AI output and send it back

Select the exact passage that needs attention and attach the instruction to it, so the Agent receives both the request and its source context.

## Leave the instruction in place

Select Markdown text and choose Delete, Refine or Explain from the action pill. Choose Request changes, or press Command-K, to write one short custom instruction. The annotation stores the file identity, exact excerpt, action and intended agent together.

- Annotations never rewrite the Markdown by themselves.
- If the file changes, Heedit tries to re-anchor the excerpt and marks it stale when that cannot be done safely.
- Turn off AI Review in Settings › Connect to use Heedit as a plain reader and editor.

## Let the agent pick it up

A connected session can keep heedit wake wait running in the background and is woken the moment you send an annotation; hooks announce unread annotations at turn boundaries as a fallback; compatible tools can use the annotation commands or MCP annotation tools. The agent edits the real file and may register the resulting output against the annotations it addressed.
