Make Heedit the default for Markdown

One setup choice makes every Markdown file open in Heedit when you double-click it. PDF, HTML and image defaults stay untouched.

Turn it on

Open Setup Guide from the Help menu, then set Heedit as the default Markdown app. The change applies only to Markdown document types registered by macOS; it does not move or rewrite any file.

Change it later

You can return to Setup at any time. macOS remains the authority for default applications, so the current state is read from Launch Services instead of a private Heedit preference.
